inspire me
to create more necklaces?
to straighten my studio?
I first saw her in an antique shop early in the summer.
I kind of wanted her.
But her price was a bit high.
Actually it was very high.
so I left her in
that back corner
of the room downstairs
in the shop.
but I kept thinking about her
and last week
when I decided to go back
just to see if she might still be there
there she was
out in the yard in front of the shop
waiting to come home with me
and for a much better price.
now
what to name her
She has this very ladylike posture so maybe something aristocratic would suit her well, like Portia or Hermione or Georgiana.

I name everything I own. I say if it's worth owning, it's worth naming. I love mannequins. You've got a good one. How about giving her a name connected to your nationality? If you are Italian, Benedetta or Maria might be nice. Irish, Brownwyn (my favorite name) or Swedish, Inga. Just some ideas.

Have tea with her, sit with her, tell her about your studio and she will tell you her name. She's been so alone for so long. Back in the corner, watching the comings and goings, listening.....she has so many ideas but no voice. Maybe you can be her voice? :)Bea

ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you were able to give her a new home and yourself this special gift. I've always wanted one of these myself. Hmmm as to names I would probably let her stand there for awhile, sit very quietly and wait for her whispered words.
