Quilt as you go -- I heard about it -- or is it a legend about pioneer trails to the west with the women quilting on their laps? This is so sweet, a tiny nine-patch. Thank you for commenting on my blog. I discovered yours today and love your work.
good question about pioneer women quilting on their laps as they traveled to the west. it's something i've heard but i don't know if it's true or not. i think i'll look into it and see what i can find out
This has long been a favorite site of mine although I hadn't looked at it lately http://www.womenfolk.com/historyofquilts/myth9.htm and apparently it is a myth. But sometimes it's fun to fantasize anyway.
I am somewhat relived that they did not quilt in the wagons on their (probably) bumpy road to the west; I can't even sew a sticth in the car on the highway, and was feeling a little inferior:-)

it isn't perfect, of course, but it isn't quite as crooked as it looks. i think it will look better once it has a backing

Those little squares; those little stitches! I hope you are having a lot of fun with this.
