no regrets

While we still miss our large tree, after last Thursday we no longer have any regrets about the decision to take it down after a limb had fallen. This is the view from the front of my house last Thursday.

Looking to the right:

Across the street and looking to the left:

Our neighborhood of tree-lined streets is not looking the same.

Oh my!I understand how you must feel about having your tree removed, you must miss it but in the same time know that it was a wise decision.
I'm having three too large trees in my garden. Two behind the house and one in front of it. The former owners planted them. It feels as if they are protecting my home. But as they are growing larger and larger and outgrowing my garden I know I have to say goodbye to them one day. That will be a sad day.

Wow to the quilt photo! I love it.

Trees have an indomitable life force!
They'll even grow around metal it its in their way. Maybe that's why we like to sit under them... to absorb some of that energy?

Ouch, glad all the houses and mostly people are okay. Hate to see those trees go, but some times they must.
Hope you gave it a hug and said good by.

Love those little blocks of yours, as always. :) About the tree needing to go, I know your feelings well. We've had to say goodbye to some that have become threatening as well. It was hard at first, but I've gotten quite used to being without them.

I love how your WIP progresses. Your neighborhood looks beautiful even without the tree! We had a huge tree in our garden that was ruining the wall and totally blocking the light from one of the windows, and even though it was sad to see it go, our living room got much lighter and there is less moss on the roof and moisture in our wall. It was strange at first, but no regrets here either.

How sad but necessary at the same time. I am loving your quilts. Especially summer solstice. I can't seem to get motivated. I guess I am tooooo tired after all the weeding and hauling lately.

Those blocks look great - and I'm glad you're feeling better about the tree.

That was one wicked storm, wasn't it?!?!?! Pitch black at 3 PM. Our neighborhood lost trees and limb too. After it was over, I was glad no witches feet were sticking out from under anyone's home...! ; )
