So far I've completed 4 of the squares and this is one possible arrangement. They won't be permanently arranged until I've finished all of the squares.
I love Corrine's interpretation of one of these blocks featured a couple of posts ago of ice in a frozen pond "with leaves and such trapped in the layers."
This morning I took some photographs of the ice in our little backyard pond.

Oh I do love the challenge of something intricate..and although I've not yet personally tried my hand at quilting per say....I look forward to it even more now....!

The picture of your backyard pond-ice is beautiful!
The ice is just beautiful, Deb. I love the way the shards move toward the centre in a circle almost like an icy star burst. Is that fish under the ice I see too? I'm guessing they are goldfish? Hardy little buggers aren't they? I've got a little family of them in our pond too. Loving the quilt experiment too! Beaut colours.
These little "log cabin-ish" blocks are adorable. Will be watching to see more as you continue. Thanks for the lovely ice photos, they are mesmerizing.
Your blocks are looking great so far and some of those fabrics do make me think of leaves and ice. Can't wait to see what you do with the bead challenge.
I love these blocks! The choice of colors and patterns is excellent. It gives a fresh new look to this traditional pattern.
