spring dreaming

Last night I finished quilting this little wip. The top had been pieced some time ago and yesterday I embellished it. Once of the pieced components is a small crocheted piece since I was experimenting with incorporating different textures. The embellishments include beads, buttons and a tulle yo-yo.

It seemed to be a good piece to work on during a snowy day since it has a sort of dreamy quality with a punch of color. And I am ignoring the snow, which is still coming down, as long as possible.

This is so incredibly The bright color is the perfect complement to the peaceful feeling. It looks small, another ATC? Trying to ignore snow here in south Jersey too, haha!

Cats and flowers always brighten my day too.

I love your embellishments. If I could only get started...

Thanks! It is small but not as small as an atc. It's a little larger than a postcard. Sometimes when I was traveling to see my oldest daughter wherever she was hospitalized or while I was waiting to see her, I would do random foundation piecing on scraps of paper or pages from small notebooks. That is how this one was made.

Hi Deborah,
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such nice comments. It's great to have another blogging friend. I like your work and I too am dreaming of spring. We've had more than enough snow in Va this year!

I've just gone through some of your older posts. I love your use of texture as in the wip:lady post.(I think that was the name of the one with the Goddess figure) The buttons and other items you use for embellishment add so much to your quilts. Just love them.

Yes, another comment -smile-. You've given me the oomph to do a series of small quilts; thanks!

I love the term you have used "un plugged quiliting" and ofcourse your lovely handstitched creations!
I suffer sewing-machine rage. Ironically, because I am impatient I too prefer to go unplugged. You asked a long time ago on my blog if my playing cards were handsewn...so I guess my above statements answers that! (I hope I already did though...but I have a feeling I didn't!..sorry!)
