I used to live in Charlottesville. It's the one place of anywhere I've ever lived that I'm sorry that I left. It has been 29 years but finally I was able to return for a brief visit, accompanying my husband on a business trip. Some of the photos were taken yesterday, after I had finished exploring and while I was waiting for the hotel room to be ready. Given my fondness for spirals, I had to take photos of the carpet in the lobby. While there I made some slightly larger than inchies, using a technique I was experimenting with. The third photo was from today's drive out to Crozet, where we used to ride on his motorcycle thirty years ago.

I have a place I wish I hadn't left, too. I'm glad you got to visit.
How wonderful to finally go back! I always wanted to visit a town where I lived for 3 years as a child; it's the only place we have lived and never came back. It was not a great place though, so we were glad to leave.
I see you brought your sewing gear; good idea, I have to get mysself a new on-the-go-project.
It was a great trip. It doesn't always work out that way, sometimes you can be disappointed. I do try to always have a small portable sewing project ready, although it would probably be better if I started preparing further ahead of time. Maybe I should make some small traveling quilt kits for myself.
Glad I'm not the only one who takes photos of carpet!
C'ville is such a nice town; Dave's sister lives in Earleysville, just a short distance from C'ville but we never seem to visit often enough.
