Yesterday we went as planned on the XPN Arts Crawl Tour. Riding a trolley through Philadelphia city streets and neighborhoods, we stopped at three galleries and had a narrative tour of some of the city's murals. Coinciding with the St. Patrick's Day parade, we also saw leprechauns and a lot of green.
Our itinerary included the Marcel Wanders: Daydreams exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Perelman Building, Philagrafika 2010 The Graphic Unconscious exhibit at the Pennsylvania of the Fine Arts, and Sublimation by David Meyer at 2424 Studios (photo below).
Can you guess what Sublimation is made of? Flour! The gallery roof had also leaked and the piece was being repaired when we arrived. All of the exhibits were inspirational and the talks by the curators were enlightening. If photos had been allowed, I would have taken them of Marcel Wanders' Crochet Chair that was made of crocheted cotton soaked in epoxy and of some of the collages in the Philagrafika exhibit. Today is my birthday.

Happy Birthday wishes to you fellow fish. It's a good thing we are fish, since we have had 9 inches of rain up here in Massachusetts, and looks like you are all getting the same. Leaky basement too. Fascinating tour you went on, if you like the crochet chair you saw, you should check out droog a Netherlands? design firm that did a rag chair made from old clothing, pretty cool stuff. Hope your leaks go away and you have something lucscuious made from flour and water tonight - like CAKE!
Happy birthday, Deborah!
Sounds like an intersting tour; I would have loved to see the pictures - if you were allowed to take some.
Sorry your basement is wet. I have a wall in my bedroom that needs replacement after umpteen leakages over the years. Annoying...
Neat experience in Philly! Not far from me. Love your Dresden Plate photo, did I miss something in your post? Wondering about it.
Happy birthday -- or what is left from it. Wishing you some sunshine, for a change -- and whatever you wish.
Well Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a fun weekend - well, not the water damage, but the rest of it. Enjoy your day!

I'm hopeful of Spring too, but daffodiles are v. late and in two weeks we have the Horticultural show- wiil there be any blooms. The tour sounds great and how nice to be able to pop into a braiding workshop. Thanks for reading my blog.
